6-Year-Old Wins Black History Month by Recreating Iconic Album Covers for the Culture

As our fallen angel Whitney Houston once sang, “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way…”

Well, clearly six-year-old Abby Elle was taught well because she’s definitely leading the way.

Undeterred by the foolishness that derailed Black History Month, Abby put on for the culture and closed February out right by recreating an assortment of iconic album covers that proliferated our childhoods.

From Alicia Keys’ seminal “Songs in A Minor”, to Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut, to even Anita Baker’s breakthrough “Rapture”, prepare to be amazed.

“I wanted to pay homage to some awesome singers,” Abby’s mother Miriame told BuzzFeed. “I basically picked artists I grew up listening to in my childhood and as a young adult. I wanted to show my daughter some of the singers I’ve loved throughout the years.”

Their tribute—which was a collaborative effort between Abby, Miriame, photographer Ernie Michael Hall, and graphic artist Glen Thomas—also includes favorites like Toni Braxton and Missy Elliot.
