Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis and her husband Juilus Tennon may be pretty private celebrities, but they’re opening up their lives—and the doors of their wonderful Los Angeles home for all to see.

Taking Architectural Digest inside for a home tour, the nearly 8,000 square-foot estate was recently renovated in 2023. They reportedly bought the stylish home back in 2016 for $5.7 million, per CNN. It boasts five bedrooms and is a “sanctuary” for the busy Hollywood couple. Let’s take a look inside…

Nothing says “welcome to our humble abode” like well-placed greenery and sleek door. Thankfully the Davis-Tennon house has both.

The Front Entryway

Not only is the entryway roomy, but it serves as a minimalist yet artistic opening to this grand home.

The Stair Landing

There’s usually not much you can do with a stair landing, but it’s clear Davis and Tennon had the perfect idea in mind with this spacious resting spot.

The Den

The “den” holds a comfortable couch as well as eclectic African art which helps elevate the warm room.

The Bar

Hanging right off the den, the bar is conveniently located Davis, Tennon and guests to enjoy a libation or two to unwind from the day.

The Kitchen

Complete with top-of-the-line appliances and enough space for “dance parties,” the kitchen is truly the heart of the Davis-Tennon family (and is apparently the place where the “How to Get Away With Murder” star throws down on collard greens. Save us a bowl, please?!)

The Movie Room

The sound-proof media room is where the family frequently goes to watch the latest movies and TV shows. Their dog Bailey often hangs out there, too.

Their Daughter’s Room

Their young daughter Genesis has creative control in her room, which included painting the walls pale yellow, Harry Potter decor and a small desk where she can play in her makeup.

The Office

The office not only serves as cozy room to get work done, but also the holding place for a myriad of Davis’ and Tennon’s accolades and accomplishments.

The Formal Living Room

Described as having a “contemporary” and “ethnic” design, the Davis-Tennon living room is both artistic and welcoming.

With the same beautiful wall decor from the living room carried into the formal dining room, it helps to accentuate the cherry-wood dining room table that Tennon designed with his carpenter and complimentary chairs.

The Primary Bedroom

The neutral colors and cozy digs in the primary bedroom make this the perfect escape from Davis and Tennon’s hectic work lives.

The Primary Closet

If you’re as fabulous as Davis, then you’re going to need ample space to keep all your stylish clothes. Thankfully, the primary closet has that and more.

The Outdoor Backyard Patio

As if the Davis-Tennon household couldn’t get any better, their backyard patio takes all the great designs from the inside and brings it outdoors with a nice pool, outdoor kitchen and several lounging spots.
