Sources say that authorities are looking for doctors who may have prescribed medications, and pharmacies that may have filled Prince’s prescriptions. TMZ reports that authorities are also interested in aliases the singer might have used.

When people abuse prescription meds, they commonly use various doctors and pharmacies to procure the controlled substances so that the prescriptions are not flagged.

Unidentified family members allegedly told TMZ that Prince had multiple doctors writing him scrips, including a “personal friend.”

According to the gossip site, Prince had a problem with the pain medication Percocet and nearly suffered a fatal overdose six days prior to his death on an airplane.

The News reports that the Prince investigation mirrors the forensic work that took place after Michael Jackson’s death, which led to an involuntary manslaughter conviction for Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who prescribed Jackson the meds that killed him.
