Bill Cosby Hopes to Revive His Career After Trial

It seems as though Bill Cosby and his family members are trying their best to have him seen in a better light. Despite the fact that more than 40 women have accused the comedian of drugging and sexually assaulting them, and with a criminal trial looming over his head, the Cosby PR train is moving at full steam.

On Wednesday, Cosby’s daughter Evin spoke out on her father’s behalf and said there was no way he could have done what he’s accused of because he “respects women.” Which many people rolled an eye at. Now Cosby himself is speaking out about his plans after the trial (assuming he doesn’t end up spending his last days in prison).

In an interview with a group representing black-owned media, the National Newspaper Publishers Association, Cosby said that he is now fully blind but that he planned to revive his career and has been working on material that does not include jokes about drugging women, according to the Associated Press.

“I think about walking out onstage somewhere in the United States of America and sitting down in a chair and giving the performance that will be the beginning of the next chapter of my career,” Cosby said. “I miss it all, and I hope that day will come. I have some routines and storytelling that I am working on.”

Cosby’s lawyers are using his blindness to his advantage, saying that he won’t be able to identify the women testifying against him during his sexual assault trial, slated to start in June.

A Pennsylvania woman, Andrea Constand, has accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2004 while she was employed at Temple University. In addition to Constand’s testimony against Cosby, another alleged victim is to take the stand in Cosby’s upcoming trial.
