On April 19, 2013, Washington, D.C.'s Howard Theatre held its second annual gala and benefit concert, honoring legendary music icons Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick and Valerie Simpson. Proceeds will be used to build a cultural and educational center connected to the historic theater.
