Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann, who fatally shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice, was fired Tuesday, two-and-a-half years after the November 2014 incident, the city announced at a news conference.

The New York Times reportsย that Officer Frank Garmbackโwho was driving the patrol car that pulled up near Tamir seconds before Loehmann fired the fatal shotsโwill be suspended for 10 days starting Wednesday.
As the report notes, it was announced back in January that Loehmann and Garmback, as well as another officer, William Cunningham, would be facing administrative charges from the Cleveland Police Department. A grand jury declined to charge any officer in the case, on the recommendation of prosecutor Timothy McGinty.
