David and Elaine McClain, the couple from Sanford, Fla., who live at the address Lee tweeted out, are suing the director for more than $15,000 for β€œsubstantial injuries” caused by the mishap, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Lee sent the tweetβ€”which has since been taken down, but you can see a screen capture hereβ€”to more than 240,000 Twitter followers. The McClains said they received death threats and hate mail as a result and had to move out of their home temporarily.

Lee later tweeted an apology:

The suit claims that Lee encouraged β€œa dangerous mob mentality among his Twitter followers.” The McClains claim that since the incident the market value of their home has decreased, and that they continue to suffer from undue stress, fear and anxiety and have trouble sleeping.
