James will step down from her post as chairperson. James, who was appointed by President Obama to serve as the chair of NWBC in October of 2010, will continue to serve as Chair through May 31, 2013.

James rose through the ranks as an executive at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, and serving as President of Nationwide Strategic Investments, a division of Nationwide Insurance. In 2005, James was ranked among the “75 Most Powerful African Americans in Corporate America” by Black Enterprise. She currently serves on the board of directors for several companies including Limited Brands, Time Warner Cable, and Marathon Petroleum Corporation. She is currently President and CEO of Lardon & Associates, a consulting firm specializing in advising business leaders on issues related to corporate governance, business development, strategy, and financial and risk management.
