A miniature drone was found on White House grounds early Monday morning, triggering a security response and investigation from the Secret Service, the New York Daily News reports.

The “2-foot quadcopter drone” landed in a tree on the Southeast side of the White House a little after 3 a.m., NBC News reports. The device “did not pose a threat to the building,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told the Daily News. President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are abroad in India on a three-day trip, but Malia and Sasha Obama were both home at the time of the breach.
"An investigation is under way to determine the origin of this commercially available device, motive and to identifty suspects," Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said.
Secret Service agents immediately put up a perimeter around the White House, limiting access, and agents combed through the bushes looking for additional devices.
