You may have noticed a trend on social media of Black women who look happy as hell in love with white men β even if they had to give them a glow up after they got together. Who could forget the viral βBlack Wife Effectβ videos that had everyone talking just a few months ago?
But many experts and influencers say this pairing is about more than just a trend and suggest Black women who may not have previously thought about it leave the door open for a relationship with a white guy.

Theyβre starting with the data. According to data from the National Survey of Family Growth, Black wife - white husband marriages are 44 percent less likely to split up than marriages with white husbands and white wives, whereas Black husbands and white wives are twice as likely to divorce and Asian husbands and white wives are about 60 percent more likely to divorce when compared to couples where both partner are white β something TikToker @sultanofsavage shared online.
Cheryl Judice, sociologist, Northwestern University professor and author of the book βInterracial Relationships Between Black Women and White Men,β makes her own case for Black women to consider coupling with white men.
In her book, she tells Black women that no matter how badly they want to end up in long-term relationships with Black men, the math isnβt mathing. She notes that Black women begin to outnumber Black men at age 16. something that doesnβt happen for whites until age 32.
βI say, βI have no intentions to diminish African-American men,β β she told the Chicago Tribune in an interview. βThere simply are not enough of you.β β
If youβre still not convinced, there have been plenty of successful examples of white men and Black women in Hollywood, including rock star David Bowie and legendary supermodel Iman and filmmaker George Lucas and businesswoman Mellody Hobson.
And there are plenty of real-life examples on social media.
Thereβs Bria, who shares her adventures with her love Simon with her over 56,000 TikTok followers.
βMe in 2025 in Jesus mighty name ππ½,β wrote a hopeful commenter who hopes to find her Simon on one of her posts.
And thereβs Praise & Jake who received over 17,000 likes on their TikTok post encouraging people to βlove who you choose to.βΒ
βIβm a Black woman married to a white man. It doesnβt mean I donβt like my own race. It just means I wouldnβt let race get in the way of my happiness,β reads the text over their post.Β
And thereβs @34jakethemenace34, who shared his love for Black women on his page.
βOverall, I truly believe no woman will ever have your back like a Black woman,β he says in his post.
But ladies, if you decide to give white guys a try, dating coach Anwar White has some advice.
In a clip he posted on TikTok, he suggests Italian men, Jewish men and successful artists (like David Bowie and Robert DeNiro) make some of the best companions for Black women. But there is one group, in particular, he advises sisters not to sleep on β red-haired white guys (a la Prince Harry), who he says are the Blacks of the whites.
βIf you see one red hair, I want you to pounce on it because heβs going to be checking for you,β he said.
