Beyonce may believe money is the best revenge (and she’s not wrong, let’s be clear). But there’s also no greater revenge than your ex seeing you look better than you did when y’al originally parted ways and that’s exactly the scenario that has Gayle King’s ex-husband William Bumpus speaking up.

As previously reported by The Root, King stunned as one of the cover models for Sports Illustrated’s 60th anniversary issue. Her photos were timeless, elegant, beautiful, tasteful and boasted her looking snatched at 69 in a variety of gorgeous swimsuits. In fact, King looked so good that she joked to ET that she ought to send the cover to Bumpus, though it remains to be seen if she actually did or not.
Regardless of if she did, the esteemed journalist’s cover was enough to bring her ex out from the shadows where he praised her beauty and called her his “teenage fantasy.”
“Well, I can mark off one more item on my highly unlikely to ever happen bucket list! My teenage fantasy of hooking up with a Sports Illustrated Model has finally come true,” he said in a statement to Page Six. “WOW! Bravo to you Gayle … You Look Fantastic! Bravo to Sports Illustrated for selecting YOU!”
He later added, “I appreciate you more and more as time goes on, as a trailblazer, and also when I see our phenomenal kids and grandkids! I am proud of you and continue to wish you nothing but happiness. Enjoy!”
It’s good to see the two on good terms considering the fact that his infidelity is what caused the dissolution of their marriage back in the day. To be specific, King recalled that she walked in on her husband in bed with another woman in 1990 which led to their ultimate divorce in 1993.
Regardless, when you look good, you look good. It’s understandable if Bumpus wants that thing back but King looks to be doing just fine on her own.
