Everyone is still going crazy over Rihannaās Fenty Beauty line. From the foundations (I still donāt know what shade I amāI should get on that) to the lipsticks (I do know Stunna is my fucking color, bitch!), she has something for everyone, and by āeveryoneā I mean all the black women willing to go broke buying everything she puts out.
Since this is the case, it should come as a surprise to no one that Kylie Jennerās company, Kylie Cosmetics, is now launching a new line of concealers purported to be āone of the most expansive, inclusive concealer ranges ever.ā

The new line will launch Dec. 13 as part of the brandās āSilver Seriesā and will contain 30 different shades that range from āfairā to ādeep dark.ā
Now, before the haters hop in the comments to tell me that Iām jealous of Kylie (I could never be jealous of a woman who paid to get the features I was gifted with naturallyāalso, Iām Black Girl Magicātuh), or, worse yet, create a thread on Lipstick Alley to shade me for daring to talk about Kylieās makeup line (yes, this happened before), thereās a simple explanation for why weāre even commenting on this.
Historically, cosmetics companies have ignored the wide range of colors that black women come in. Those that have attempted to create colors to match our skin tones often ignore the importance of undertones. This results in black women looking ashy when they use those brands. So yeah, itās kind of a big deal.
Iāve only seen the shades on the models Kylie posted, so I will wait to see what happens when the products actually launch and the beauty bloggers I trust review them, but Iām not going to sit here and pretend this isnāt the Fenty effect playing out again.
Everyone wants to compete with Rihanna. Most of them canāt.
Iām sure we thought Kylie would be at home tending to her pregnant belly and slathering on cocoa butter to prevent stretch marks, but it would appear that she is hard at work trying to come for the queen.
Girl, I guess.
From the photos, it seems that Kylie has taken undertones into consideration, and as I said earlier, that is a big dealābut again, itās still the Fenty effect working in the real world because it was Fenty cosmetics that showed yāall how itās done.
Anyway, we will let it ride for now and reserve our (full) judgment until Dec. 13, when the line launches.
In the meantime, take a look at these shades.
