Blogging at Black Like Moi, Dr. Boyce Watkins challenges Samuel L. Jackson's comments in anΒ Ebony interview that he voted for President Barack Obama only because he is black and that he would like to see him behave more like a "nβger" in his second term. Watkins says that Jackson must be kidding because there is no pride in ignorance.
In comments that are not likely to get a response from the White House, actor (and perhaps comedian) Samuel L. Jackson stated that heβd like to see President Obama transform into a n*gga during his second term. He also said that Obamaβs message meant nothing to him and that he voted for him solely because heβs black.

βWhen it comes down to it, they wouldnβt have elected a N*gger. Because, whatβs a A N*gger is scary. Obama ainβt scary at all. N- donβt have beers at the White House. N- donβt let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A N*gger would have stopped the meeting right there and said, βWho the [bleep] said that?β
Jackson then went on to make it clear that he didnβt care about the presidentβs message or policies and that he voted for him solely because heβs black.
βThatβs American politics, pure and simple. [Obamaβs] message didnβt mean [bleep] to me. In the end, heβs a politician. I just hoped he would do some of what he said he was gonna do. I know politicians say [bleep]; they lie. βCuz they want to get elected,β
The remarks by Sam are a good example of when βkeepin it realβ can go horribly wrong.Β I sincerely hope that the brother was joking, but judging from the depth of his statements, it appears that Mr. Jackson thought very deeply about how to be appropriately simple-minded.
