But singer and Real Housewives of Atlanta alumna Kandi Burruss is one star who did not have the same success. In fact, she recently opened up on PageSixโs โVirtual Reali-Teaโ podcast about her experience with the medication and the negative impact the results had on her mental health.
โLast year, I tried it,โ she said in the interview. โI saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight. So I was like, โOkay, Iโm going to try this.โ And I didnโt lose any weight.โ
Burruss said the medication โ created for Type II diabetes patients to help the user lose weight by reducing their appetite โ didnโt curb her cravings at all, which surprised her friends and her doctor.
โMy doctor was like, โI donโt know what the problem is, Iโm not seeing this in other people,โโ she said.
Burruss said she hoped the drug would help her lose some of the weight she gained after leaving the cast of โThe Real Housewives of Atlantaโ earlier this year. But when she didnโt get the results she had hoped for, Burruss said she began to feel sad and point the blame at herself.
โWhen you see it worked for other people and it doesnโt work for you, it makes you depressed,โ she said. โRealistically, it makes you feel like, โWhat is wrong with me? Why is it not working for me?โโ
The Xscape alum says with the help of a healthy diet, workout plan and weight management dietary supplement Hydroxycut, she hopes to lose at least 20 pounds.
โIt has been years since I felt like I was real slim and trim โ slim-thick, as I like to call it. Itโs been a minute and I would love to just see myself get back to that, to my best self,โ she said.
