(The Root) — In the midst of tensions running high over Rachel Jeantel's testimony in the George Zimmerman murder trial, track star Lolo Jones managed to secure a piece of the outrage for herself after making a tasteless joke at Jeantel's expense.

Jeantel, a friend of the late Trayvon Martin and the last person to talk to him alive (aside from Zimmerman), has endured two tough days of testimony on the stand and pelting by the media both on and offline. Once Jeantel stepped off the stand, her online supporters took a collective sigh of relief but were soon up in arms again thanks to this tweet from Jones' account.
