Diddyβs reign as the unofficial king of New York City has finally come to an end, thanks to Mayor Eric Adams.
In a move that comes less than 10 months after he was granted the key to the city, the Bad Boy mogul reportedly returned it on June 10, according to CNN. This move comes amid the continual legal fallout spawned by the now-viral 2016 footage of Diddy physically assaulting Cassie Ventura that was released in mid-May, which accompanied the myriad sexual assault lawsuits filed against him.

Shortly after the aforementioned videoβs release, local media pressed the mayor on whether or not he would ask Diddy to return the keys. He told New Yorkβs Pix 11 at the time: βThe committee and the team has never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be. We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back to me with a final determination.β
That final determination would later come at the top of June when Mayor Adams sent a letter to one of Diddyβs companies asking for the keyβs return.
βThe Key to the City of New York is presented to individuals whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement, and who act as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers,β the letter read in part according to CBS News. βAfter internal deliberations, the Key to the City of New York committee recommended nullifying and rescinding Mr. Combsβ key. I have accepted their recommendation.β
In reference to Diddyβs beahavior on the video, Mayor Adams also added: βI strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.β
This marks yet another domino in the Diddyβs downfall. Last week, we told you that the mogul was no longer the owner at his media company Revolt, opting to step down and sell his majority stake.
Prior to that, Howard rescinded his honorary doctorate degree, ended the scholarship program in his name and returned the recent $1 million donation he made.
