A video has captured a group of middle school students from Royal Oak Middle School in Michigan chanting, "Build the wall," during lunch just one day after Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, the Detroit News reports.

"It is so sad. Latino children were crying," said Dee Perez-Scott, who posted the video. "The taunts, the 'Build that wall'ย with such bullying power and hate from children to children. Just horrifying!"

According to the Detroit News, as of Thursday morning, the video had been shared 18,700 times after going viral, with more than 733,000 views.

Members of the Royal Oak Police Department had been at the middle school Thursday morning since school opened and remained there throughout the day.

"We need to work towards understanding, not scoring points, and we need to find a way to move forward that respects and values each and every member of our community," said Royal Oak Schools Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin.ย "We will be working on this in school today."

Parents have expressedย their concern regardingย the safety of their kids following the incident.
