When her child, Avery, came, he set the record for the heaviest baby delivered at St. Josephโ€™s Womenโ€™s Hospital, and he was one of the largest babies ever born in the state, according to a report at MyFoxDC.

Ford, a nurse at a neighboring health facility, told the news station that she was surprised last fall to learn she was pregnant. As a twin herself and because she grew so fast, she thought she might be having twins herself. But her first doctor visit brought an even bigger surprise: She was already 35 weeks along, the report says.

โ€œNo nausea. No vomiting,โ€ she told the station. โ€œI didnโ€™t gain any weight. I was working.โ€

โ€œI was shocked,โ€ offered Allen Denson, Averyโ€™s father. โ€œI couldnโ€™t believe it at all. I thought she was playing.โ€

But the mom knew she had a big baby during delivery. โ€œWhen I felt his head come out, I knew he was bigger than 10 pounds,โ€ she told the station.

Avery reportedly headed home Friday at just over a week old. Denson and Ford already have two children, a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old.

โ€œI have a linebacker now instead of a fullback,โ€ Allen told the station.
