Oh No! Halle Bailey Reveals Sad Update About Her Motherhood Journey

The journey of carrying a child already comes with its own set of challenges, but Bailey is now shedding light on the new issue she now faces.

Though Halle Bailey was seemingly in good spirits not too long ago when she posted her impressive post-baby body on Instagram, it looks like the โ€œAngelโ€ singer may have quietly battling an issue many new moms know all too well: postpartum depression.

This revelation comes just one week after the internet fueled rumors of a potential breakup between Bailey and rapper/YouTuber DDG, the father of their three-month old son Halo. That news came just after DDG admitted to messaging his ex after getting into an argument with โ€œThe Little Mermaidโ€ star just to get a rise out of her.

All of this couldnโ€™t come at a worse time though, as Bailey recently shared on her since-expired Snapchat video the struggles sheโ€™s been facing when it comes to her self-perception of her body and her mental health in the aftermath of giving birth. Admitting to feeling like a โ€œcompletely different personโ€ and experiencing postpartum depression for the first time in her life, she shared:

โ€œThe only thing thatโ€™s been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body. Like itโ€™s crazy, I feel like a completely different person. When I look in the mirror, I just feel like Iโ€™m in a whole new body, like I donโ€™t know who I am. And I think thereโ€™s something to be said about what women, what we go through, especially after having a child after. Building, creating this beautiful life and what happens to us and our well beings right after.โ€

She continued:

โ€œAnd I do think there is a little bit of a stigma, you know, when you hear about people talking about postpartum. Iโ€™ll even say for myself, before I had a child and I would hear people talk about postpartum, it would kind of just go in one ear and out the other. I didnโ€™t realize how serious of a thing it actually was. And so now going through it, it almost feels like youโ€™re swimming in this ocean thatโ€™s like the biggest waves youโ€™ve ever felt and youโ€™re trying not to drown. And youโ€™re trying to come up for air.โ€

Bailey concluded by assuring her fans that her depression had โ€œnothing to do with her babyโ€ and that she was triggered by negative comments on social media about the โ€œone/ones that she loves.โ€
