Actress Kerry Washington’s InStyle cover dropped Wednesday to the sound of head-scratching across social media. In the new March edition, the typically lovely Scandal star appeared a little different from how she normally looks, cried Twitter.
Well, maybe more than a little different.

The main critique? It was an all-around Photoshop fail on this “no makeup” pic. She was blown several shades lighter, her nose seemed to be different, and some argued that the magazine was trying to morph our Olivia Pope into another actress entirely.

Personally? I’m seeing hints of Zoe Saldana, lightened to Sanaa levels.
InStyle isn’t the first magazine to be accused of botching Washington’s perfectly symmetrical face. In 2013 this cackling, nightmare witch pretending to be Washington appeared on the cover of Lucky.
Better luck next time.
