A notable member of the Black Mafia Family is the latest recipient of the president’s pardon initiative.

As his term comes to an end, President Joe Biden is making headlines with his decisions on pardons and clemency. The latest announcement involves a name familiar to viewers of Starz’s β€œBMF.”

According to 11 Alive, Black Mafia Family co-founder Terry β€œSouthwest T” Flenory has been granted clemency. It’s part of a β€œbroader initiative to pardon those who were released from prison and placed in home confinement during the coronavirus [pandemix].”

For their involvement in an international drug trafficking ring, Terry Flenory and his brother Demetrius β€œBig Meech” Flenory were sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008. In 2020, during the pandemic, Flenory was released and ordered to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest. He reacted to the clemency news with a statement on Instagram.

β€œNow It’s official! @realbigmeechmom I understand you were excited, so last week you let the cat out the bag,” Flenory wrote. β€œIt’s been a journey, but prayer and unwavering faith beyond mere human comprehension got us to this point. Never once acted in my own ability nor doing anything to anyone to help myself. So the gloves are off, the gag orders are up and all the naysayers have to suck it up. #godisgood”

In case you’ve never seen the Starz drama, β€œBMF” chronicles the rise of the Black Mafia Family. It’s executive produced by Curtis β€œ50 Cent” Jackson and stars Demetrius β€œLil Meech” Flenory Jr. as his father, β€œBig Meech,” alongside Da’Vinchi as Terry Flenory.

Back in October, β€œBig Meech” β€œwas transferred to a residential reentry program in Miami” where he will serve the rest of his sentence.

This news follows President Biden’s decision to commute the federal death sentences of 37 prisoners. He’s also been encouraged by members of the House of Representatives to pardon civil rights leader Marcus Garvey.
