On Thursday I wrote about Roy Moore waxing nostalgic about the days of slavery. And every day, The Root covers something crazy that the current sitting president has said. This current regime is not attempting to hide its racist overtones, and this latest incident is no exception: A Republican congressman from Iowa tweeted from his verified account Friday that โdiversity is not our strength.โ Iโm not making this up.

Let me give you some background on Iowa Rep. Steve King. He is the person who sponsored the Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017, an amendment to the federal criminal code that makes it a crime for any physician โto knowingly perform an abortion: (1) without determining whether the fetus has a detectable heartbeat, (2) without informing the woman of the results, or (3) after determining that a fetus has a detectable heartbeat.โ
Clearly, King doesnโt believe in women being in charge of their own vaginas, and if his tweet is any indication, he doesnโt want them sharing their vaginas outside of their race, either.
โDiversity is not our strength. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbรกn, โMixing cultures will not lead to a higher quality of life but a lower one,โโ King wrote, linking to an article referencing the Orban quote.
If you are unfamiliar with Orbรกn, Politico describes him as a โconservative subversive.โ He is anti-immigrant and has installed razor wire fencing and water cannons at his borders.
If King thinks that Orbรกn is an example to follow, that tells us everything we need to know about him, even if his latest tweets didnโt already.
King followed up the diversity tweet by writing, โAssimilation has become a dirty word to the multiculturalist left. Assimilation, not diversity, is our American strength.โ
Of course, the people of Twitter had strong reactions to Kingโs statements, as well they should.
We should be very afraid that this is what we have in our so-called representative government, which is purportedly built โof the people, by the people.โ
