Anthony Mackieβs Captain America is finally hitting the big screen! Disney just dropped the first trailer for the upcoming flick, which sees Mackie again holding the iconic shield after taking over the role in the Disney+ series βThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.β The new films marks the first Black Captain America in a superhero film.
Like the βCaptain Americaβ films before it, the trailer teases action, high-speed chases, and intrigue, with a mystery centered around the President of the United States and subsequent attacks against him. βSir, your inner circle has been compromised,β Mackieβs character Sam Wilson warns the President (Harrison Ford) in the action-packed trailer. βEither you canβt see that, or you donβt want to.β

The internet is going up for Mackieβs turn as Captain America, with many people taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their excitement. As one user wrote, βMarvel saw the timeline in shambles yesterday and came through for us.β Others wrote that the film looks, βpretty sick,β specifically with the βpolitical toneβ the film is taking.
The trailer also teases a Red Hulk, a character many fans have been waiting to see. One user wrote, βI waited for this moment to see Sam Wilson(Anthony Mackie) fully take on the mantle of Captain America. BTW...Red Hulk Incoming!!!β
As The Root previously reported, Mackieβs turn as Captain America in an official Marvel Cinematic Universe film has been a long time coming. When the project was announced in 2022, Mackie opened up about the role of Sam: βWhat you have to realize about Sam β heβs a superhero who is not really a superhero. Thereβs no secret serum. Thereβs no this or that. I just have wings on my suit that I got from the military. So everything that I do, I do as a common man. When you see me, you might think, βOh, I can be a superhero, too.β Whereas if you look at Hulk or any of those guys, you canβt compete.β
