According to Ted Cruzâs father, Rafael Cruz, African-American and Latino voters (non-Republican ones, anyway) are âuninformedâ and âdeceived.â
It was recently discovered that the evangelical pastor gave a speech back in February to conservative activists and took up a previous speakerâs point that Hispanics were uninformed or deceived, the Huffington Post reports.

âThe same thing is true of the black population,â he stated.
The elder Cruz found flaws in how the two groups vote, adding, âAs a matter of fact, if we could communicate the truth, not only to the Hispanics but to the black population, all blacks should be Republican,â he said.
After all, âhighly religious, strongly pro-family, strongly pro-life” values line up Hispanic ideals to those of the GOP.
However, as the Huffington Post notes, Cruz may have overstated these âfactsâ just a little.
About 59 percent of Latino voters support same-sex marriage, while 66 percent believe in reproductive rights, exit polls from 2012 show. Black voters have followed the same trend, moving increasingly toward a more âliberalâ point of view.
Still, as the 74-year-old would put it, âall civil rightsâ that African Americans have achieved were through Republicans.
âLetâs talk about the black population. All the civil rights that the African Americans have obtained have come from Republicans,â Cruz said. âBut you know what? Democrats took the credit.â
Cruz also had some advice for the nation regarding political correctness: âWe have been guilty of following two things that we totally have to throw aside. Number one is political correctness,â he said. âWe have been destroyed by political correctness. And we must learn to tell the truth unequivocally.â
