Either top White House adviser Kellyanne Conway is becoming a kinder and gentler version of herself or CNNâs Jake Tapper just handed Conway her hat. Appearing on the news channel that President Donald Trump officially considers âfake news,â Conway apologized and expressed remorse for citing a phony massacre and acknowledged that not all mainstream media are fake.
âI donât think CNN is âfake news.â I think there are some reports everywhere, in print, on TV, on radio, in conversation, that are not well-researched and are sometimes based on falsehoods,â Conway said.

At one point it seemed as if Conway even acknowledged that the president was a liar, noting that while he does spread falsehoods, he still does good.
âAre they [falsehoods] more important than the many things that he says that are true that are making a difference in peopleâs lives?â she said.
Tapper held Conwayâs feet to the flame the entire interview.
âEvery day there are these sprays of attack and sprays of falsehoods coming from the White House,â he said. âIt would be better if they were not coming from the White House, for me and for you.â
Tapper then asked Conway about a list of tragedies from around the globe that Trump claimed the media didnât cover. Tapper showed receipts, including an eight-box screen showing CNN in the locations listed by the White House, to prove that CNN had indeed been there.
Conway responded: âObviously, the very sad incidents that youâve related … frankly, CNN did amazing coverage for weeks at a time.â
When the subject moved to Conwayâs admonishment of the media for not covering the âBowling Green Massacre,â which is totally made up and never happened, Conway fell on her sword.
âI regretted it tremendously,â Conway said of blasting the media for not covering a tragedy that didnât occur. âI felt really badly about that.â
