Troy Davis: Howard Students' White House Rally

CNN is reporting that Howard University students have converged on the White House to protest the planned execution of Troy Davis at 7 p.m. ET. Davis has been on death row in Georgia for 22 years for the 1989 slaying of Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail.

Brendon Harris, the Howard University Student Association president, told CNN, "We felt we had to stand up and say something."Protesters chanted, "No justice, no peace," and carried signs reading "No to legal lynching." They vowed to continue the demonstration until the 7 p.m. scheduled execution in Georgia. The Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles denied a request to reconsider clemency for Troy Davis.

As previously reported, Davis has many supporters around the world who believe he is innocent.

The Jasmine Brand blog is reporting that students are being arrested and posted a picture of an alleged arrest in progress.
