Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) pulled no punches during her sitdown interview with The Root at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundationβs 47th Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., when she called out President Donald Trump for being a white supremacist as well as blasting his campaignβs alleged ties to the Kremlin.
However, as discouraging as life under Trump has been, Auntie Maxine (she likes being called Auntie Maxine) told us that his tyranny is no match for the collective power of black women around the country who are standing up against him.
βBlack women, because we have evolved with strength and voting power and economic power, this is a special moment in the history of black women,β she said. βAnd I think weβre going to be very key in helping to set this country right and to make sure that this president does not remain president.β
