Ohio Sen. JD Vance is learning the hard way that the internet is forever: It seems the senator’s past comments are coming back to bite him just as Minn. Gov. Tim Walz is taking the stage as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.
Most Americans admit to they didn’t know Walz before he was chosen, but ratings show voters don’t like Vance: According to the Washington Post, six separate polls show Vance is becoming even more unpopular with voters, which can only spell trouble for the GOP nominee, former President Donald Trump.

Vance and His “Childless Cat Ladies” Comment
After a 2021 clip of Vance went viral when he called Democratic lawmakers “childless cat ladies,” Vance has doubled and even trippled down on his remarks. Many childless Americans took offensive to Vance’s comments, but clearly, he doesn’t care.
Walz Says “Mind Your Own Damn Business”
During the first rally after being named as Harris’ running mate, Walz took to the stage to tell Vance and Trump to “mind your own damn business.” Walz went on to talk about the inspiration behind his daughter’s name, Hope, after she was born through IVF.

According to Reuters, the senator wasn’t always a MAGA fan. Vance once compared Trump to Hitler, but over time, Vance has warmed up to the former president and all of his theatrics. Now, as the GOP candidate’s running mate, Vance’s views are more in line with Trump.
Walz’s Politics Became More Progressive Overtime
It might come as a surprise to some that Walz’s political views turned more progressive after he was elected to serve as governor. According to CNN, Walz used to call himself a “moderate,” but now, he is a full-blown progressive, passing laws on green energy, abortion, voting rights, and even marijuana.
Vance’s Military Background
In addition to vocally criticizing Walz for “dropping out” of the Army, the senator also noted his four-year service in the US Marine Corps, according to BBC. In 2005, he went to Iraq as a military journalist and did not experience combat.

Walz has been facing heavy criticism for retiring from the US National Guard right before his unit was deployed to the Middle East for combat, per BBC. The former congressman retired in May 2005; his unit was notified of their scheduled deployment in July 2005, 2 months after Walz dipped out. In total, Walz served 24 years.
Vance Attempts to Pull Up on VP Kamala Harris
Chile... Vance is itching for Harris to give her first press conference since announcing Walz as her running mate. Even though the Democratic nominee said she’s working to schedule one sometime this month, that wasn’t enough for Vance. He even pulled up to Air Force Two, hoping to catch Harris and call her out for “refusing” to answer “tough questions.”
Walz Says He “Can’t Wait” to Face Vance
While Vance is busy calling out Harris, Walz is focused on when he’s going to face the senator in a formal vice presidential debate. During his first rally on the Harris ticket, Walz told the crowd of thousands he couldn’t wait to debate Vance “if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up.”
Vance Says Antisemitism Contributed to Harris Picking Walz
Before Walz was chosen, many suspected Penn. Gov. Josh Shapiro would make it to the Harris ticket. In criticism to Harris, Vance said on multiple occasions he suspects Walz was chosen to avoid backlash from anti-Israel voters.
Walz Says Trump and Vance are “Weird Guys”
Clearly not afraid to call out the Trump campaign, Walz’s “weird” remark caught the attention of Trump and his supporters. The Minn. governor made news after appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and calling Trump and his running mate “weird.” Walz doubled down on his opinion on the duo, and since then, even Harris is using “weird” to describe the former president’s actions.
Vance’s Diet Mountain Dew Joke
Vance made a joke saying Democrats would call anything “racist”— even him drinking two Mountain Dews in the span of two days. The senator’s joke only released a few chuckles from the audience.
Walz Questions Why Trump “Never” Laughs
Apparently, the governor has more than a few questions for Trump and the people who support him. In addition to calling Trump “weird” once again, Walz asked “and why does the guy never laugh?”
Vance Asks Harris “What the Hell Have You Done?”
During a Mich. rally, Sen. Vance told the Harris didn’t “like” him. The senator then said “I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and build a business. What the hell have you done other than collect a check?” to a roaring crowd. This isn’t the first time the Trump-Vance campaign suggested the vice president isn’t qualified to run the country.
Walz Takes Another Jab at Trump’s Criminal Record
During the first rally as Harris’ running mate, Walz made it clear he will not be backing down from Trump or Vance. He reminding the crowd that crime rates dropped under the Biden-Harris Administration after they jumped with Trump as president but not including “the crimes he was committing.” Walz clearly couldn’t keep the joke in after he thought of it. Even Harris was caught in the back trying to maintain her composure.
